Introducing a blog feels a bit awkward.
If I met you in person, I would smile and extend my hand as I introduced myself. A computer screen is impersonal and less friendly than a smile, but this blog will be personal. At least that is my intention. So, in spite of the tension between technology and genuine communication:
Hello, my name is Katie. I, along with my husband and two small children, am working out how to do life while following Jesus. There are ups and downs, but lots of love and laughter along the way. And some tears. And lots of coffee (because our children are tiny and we apparently make non-sleepers).
I am a contradictory blend of the clichéd left-brained and right-brained personality types. My desk and house are usually a good indication of which side is currently winning the internal tug of war. However, let’s get real and admit that if you are reading this, you probably already know me. Either way, I’m glad you’re here!
The name of my blog is inspired by a childhood nickname and the first iteration of my graphic design business. I suppose that one could categorize this as a lifestyle blog, but I really intend it to be an extension of my own journey. I am planning to write about the things that I love: Jesus, my family, parenting, creative pursuits, my business, and my challenges.
This morning at church it hit me that the theme for this season in my life is the song Beautiful Things by Gungor. I feel like I am in recovery mode. The reason why is another post, but life is more hopeful these days. My heart is lighter. I recognize that I am blessed to be in this place compared to where I was just a few weeks ago. However, I am very much a work in progress. So, here I am. Lord, work out your will in my heart. Create something beautiful and new.
Make me new.
Here is the dust.
I am excited to see what you make.
